Advanced, Precise, and Restorative Hand & Microsurgical Treatments by Expert Surgeons

Hand and microsurgery is a highly specialized field that focuses on treating injuries, deformities, nerve entrapments, tendon damage, and complex conditions affecting the hands, wrists, arms, and fingers. At Memorial Hospital Turkey, these procedures are performed using advanced microsurgical techniques, high-tech imaging, and internationally approved medical protocols. This department offers comprehensive care for trauma cases, chronic pain conditions, congenital hand problems, and functional limitations caused by disease or injury.

🩺 What Is Hand and Microsurgery?

Hand and microsurgery is a subspecialty of orthopedics and traumatology that treats diseases and injuries involving nerves, tendons, ligaments, vessels, muscles, and bones of the arm and hand. Microsurgery uses extremely fine instruments, microscopic magnification, and sutures thinner than hair to repair structures smaller than 1 mm, allowing surgeons to restore blood flow, sensation, and function with high precision.

At Memorial Hospital, the orthopedic and microsurgery teams provide thorough evaluations, precise diagnoses, and advanced treatment plans aligned with international surgical standards.

🩺 Types of Hand and Microsurgery Procedures

  • Replantation and Limb Salvage – Used for severed or amputated fingers, hands, or arms. Microsurgery reconnects blood vessels and nerves to restore circulation and sensation.
  • Tendon, Nerve, and Vessel Repair – Microsurgical suturing repairs delicate structures after trauma, cuts, or crush injuries.
  • Treatment of Fractures in Hand and Fingers – Minimally invasive fixation techniques stabilize broken bones with fast recovery and high functional success.
  • Congenital Hand Anomaly Surgery – Corrective procedures for fused fingers, missing digits, deformities, and abnormal muscle or tendon development.
  • Nerve Entrapment Surgery (Including Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) – Opens compressed nerve pathways in the wrist, palm, or elbow to relieve numbness, weakness, and pain.
  • Ganglion Cyst Removal & Hand Tumor Treatment – Removal of benign cysts or masses using precise microsurgical excision.
  • Trigger Finger Release & Dupuytren’s Contracture Surgery – Restores smooth finger movement by releasing tightened tissues or removing thickened fascia.

🩺 Who Is a Good Candidate?

You may be a good candidate for hand and microsurgery if:

✔️ You have tendon, nerve, or vessel injury
✔️ Your hand or wrist pain affects daily function
✔️ Non-surgical treatments have not improved your condition
✔️ You experience numbness or weakness due to nerve entrapment
✔️ You have congenital or trauma-related hand deformities
✔️ You need replantation after accidental amputation
✔️ You want care at an internationally accredited hospital
✔️ You are medically fit for microsurgical intervention

Early diagnosis and proper planning improve long-term results.

📝 Consultation & Preparation

  • X-rays, MRI, ultrasound, or nerve conduction tests
  • Review of medical history and symptoms
  • Explanation of surgical and non-surgical options
  • Personalized treatment plan
  • Clear recovery timeline
  • Avoiding specific medications
  • Using a wrist brace if required
  • Fasting before anesthesia
  • Completing blood tests and imaging
  • Bringing previous medical reports

🩺 Recovery & Aftercare

Recovery depends on the type of procedure, severity of injury, and the patient’s overall health.

  • Most minor microsurgeries: 1–2 weeks
  • Tendon/nerve repair: 3–6 weeks
  • Complex trauma or replantation: 2–3 months
  • Carpal tunnel surgery recovery: 10–14 days
  • Hand therapy or physiotherapy may be required
  • Follow-up visits ensure proper healing
  • Scar management and mobility exercises help restore strength

Patients typically return to daily activities shortly after treatment, depending on the complexity of the surgery.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5-Star Review I recently travelled from Australia to Istanbul for a 4,750 graft hair transplant at Memorial Hospital with Dr. Salim Salimov, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. Dr. Salimov is incredibly skilled and professional. He explained the entire procedure clearly, answered all my questions, and made me feel completely confident. The surgery went smoothly, and I was amazed that I didn’t feel any pain at all after the procedure. The nurses and staff were also outstanding — friendly, supportive, and attentive throughout the whole journey. The hospital itself is extremely clean, modern, and well-organised. I’m extremely happy with my results so far, and I will definitely be coming back for any future treatments. I highly recommend Memorial Hospital and Dr. Salim Salimov to anyone considering a hair transplant. Outstanding experience all around!

We came for first time on December, I haven’t seen until now any other Hospital better than Memorial Bahçelievler Hastanesi. Very organized, they can offer you the comfort that any other hospital will offer. The staff was amazing, very kind and helpful, from receptionist, translators (I have to mention Ola and Elena), the nurses, the doctors and the professors all the staff is the best! I will recommend 🙌🏻 definitely.
