Specialty: Coronary Angiography

Coronary Angiography

Overview:

Coronary Angiography is a test that uses dye and X-ray imaging to check blood flow in the coronary arteries. Doctors use it to find blockages, narrowing, or other problems that limit blood supply to the heart.

During the procedure, the doctor inserts a thin tube (catheter) into an artery in the wrist or groin. The tube is guided to the coronary arteries, where contrast dye is released. X-ray images then show the exact location and severity of any blockages.

Coronary Angiography helps diagnose coronary artery disease, chest pain (angina), and heart attack risk. It also guides treatment choices, such as angioplasty, stent placement, or bypass surgery.
