Aortic Aneurysm Surgery treats a life-threatening bulge in the aorta, the main artery carrying blood from the heart. Doctors recommend surgery when the aneurysm grows too large or shows signs of rupture risk.
There are two main approaches. In open aortic aneurysm surgery, the surgeon removes the weak section and replaces it with a graft. In endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), the surgeon places a stent graft through a small incision to strengthen the aorta from the inside.
Open repair often requires a longer recovery, while EVAR usually allows patients to return to daily life more quickly. Both procedures greatly reduce the chance of rupture and improve long-term vascular health.
