Dr. Mirely Ucan Lopez is an endodontics specialist in Mérida, Mexico, providing dental care at Mérida Dental Specialties Clinic, a multispecialty dental center focused on prevention, modern techniques, patient comfort and long-term oral health.

Her work is especially important for patients with dental pain, infected teeth, deep cavities, inflamed dental pulp, tooth sensitivity, dental abscesses or damaged teeth that may still be preserved. Dr. Mirely Ucan Lopez works within a clinic that brings together several dental specialties, including endodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, aesthetic dentistry, dental prosthetics, dental implants, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and preventive dental care. Through MyMediTour, patients can coordinate dental records, X-rays, photos, treatment goals, consultation requests, travel timing and follow-up communication before and after care in Mérida.

About Mérida Dental Specialties Clinic

A Multispecialty Dental Clinic Focused on Healthy Smiles for Life

Mérida Dental Specialties Clinic is a dental clinic in Mérida, Yucatán with more than 10 years of experience. The clinic focuses on updated dental techniques, quality treatment and patient education, with a strong emphasis on prevention and long-term oral health.

The clinic’s approach is warm, professional and family-oriented. Its goal is not only to treat dental problems after they appear, but to help patients understand how to protect their teeth, gums and smile over time.

This is especially valuable for patients who feel nervous about dental treatment, have delayed care, need several procedures coordinated, or are traveling from another country and want their dental plan organized clearly before arrival.

Professional Background

Endodontics Specialist Within a Complete Dental Team

Dr. Mirely Ucan Lopez focuses on endodontics, the dental specialty dedicated to treating the inside of the tooth. This includes problems involving the dental pulp, infection, inflammation, deep decay, trauma and tooth pain.

Her work is especially important because endodontic treatment can help preserve natural teeth that might otherwise need to be extracted. For many patients, saving the tooth is the first step before completing a stronger long-term restoration, such as a filling, crown or broader prosthetic plan.

At Mérida Dental Specialties Clinic, Dr. Mirely Ucan Lopez works alongside a team with specialties in orthodontics, oral rehabilitation, periodontics and dental implants, pediatric dentistry, and endodontics. This team structure allows patients to receive coordinated care when one dental problem connects to another.

Dental Procedures and Specialties

Endodontics, Implants, Prosthetics, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry and More

Mérida Dental Specialties Clinic offers a complete dental care model for patients who need preventive, restorative, surgical, aesthetic or specialty dental treatment. The clinic describes its approach as a comprehensive dental service with the knowledge and capacity to help patients across multiple types of oral health needs

Endodontics

Root Canal Treatment, Dental Pain Relief and Natural Tooth Preservation

Endodontics is Dr. Mirely Ucan Lopez’s specialty. This area focuses on treating the inside of the tooth, especially when the dental pulp becomes inflamed, infected or damaged.

Patients may need endodontic care when they have deep cavities, dental abscesses, cracked teeth, trauma, severe sensitivity or pain that does not go away. The goal is to relieve discomfort, treat infection and preserve the natural tooth whenever possible. For many patients, saving the tooth through endodontic care is the first step before completing the final restoration with a filling, crown or prosthetic plan.

Orthodontics

Tooth Alignment and Bite Correction for Children, Teens and Adults

Orthodontics focuses on correcting tooth alignment and bite problems. This specialty may help patients with crowded teeth, spacing, crooked teeth, overbite, underbite, crossbite or other alignment concerns that affect both appearance and function.

Orthodontic treatment is not only cosmetic. A better bite can also make teeth easier to clean, support healthier gums, improve chewing and help protect long-term dental stability. For children, teenagers and adults, orthodontic planning can be an important part of creating a healthier, more balanced smile.

Pediatric Dentistry

Gentle Dental Care for Children and Adolescents

Pediatric Dentistry provides dental care for babies, children and adolescents in a way that is adapted to their age, comfort level and stage of dental development. This specialty focuses on prevention, early diagnosis, cavity treatment, oral hygiene education and helping children feel more comfortable at the dentist.

Early dental care is important because a child’s first experiences can shape how they feel about dentistry for years. Pediatric dental visits can also help identify problems early, guide healthy habits and support proper development of the teeth and bite.

Periodontics

Gum Health, Bone Support and Periodontal Disease Treatment

Periodontics focuses on the gums, bone and supporting structures around the teeth. This specialty is important for patients with bleeding gums, gum inflammation, gum recession, loose teeth, bad breath, bone loss or periodontal disease.

Healthy gums are the foundation for long-term dental results. Periodontal care is especially important before dental implants, crowns, bridges and other restorative treatments because the surrounding tissues must be stable enough to support lasting function and appearance.

Aesthetic Dentistry

Smile Improvement with Attention to Health, Balance and Natural Appearance

Aesthetic Dentistry focuses on improving the appearance of the smile while respecting oral health and function. This may be relevant for patients who want a brighter, more balanced, more confident smile or who need cosmetic improvement as part of a larger dental treatment plan.

A good aesthetic dental plan should consider more than tooth color alone. Tooth shape, proportion, symmetry, gum health, bite function and long-term maintenance all influence the final result. The goal is to create a smile that looks natural, healthy and appropriate for the patient.

Dental Prosthetics

Restoring Missing, Damaged or Weakened Teeth

Dental Prosthetics focuses on restoring teeth that are missing, damaged, weakened or no longer functioning properly. This specialty may include crowns, bridges, removable prosthetics or other restorative solutions depending on the patient’s diagnosis and treatment plan.

Prosthetic dentistry can improve chewing, speech, smile appearance and confidence, especially for patients who have lost one or more teeth. A well-planned restoration should feel comfortable, look natural and support the patient’s bite over time.

Dental Implants

Restoring Missing, Damaged or Weakened Teeth

Dental Prosthetics focuses on restoring teeth that are missing, damaged, weakened or no longer functioning properly. This specialty may include crowns, bridges, removable prosthetics or other restorative solutions depending on the patient’s diagnosis and treatment plan.

Prosthetic dentistry can improve chewing, speech, smile appearance and confidence, especially for patients who have lost one or more teeth. A well-planned restoration should feel comfortable, look natural and support the patient’s bite over time.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Wisdom Teeth, Impacted Teeth and Surgical Dental Care

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery includes surgical dental procedures for more complex oral conditions. This may involve wisdom tooth care, impacted teeth, surgical extractions and other oral surgery needs depending on the patient’s evaluation.

Wisdom teeth can become painful, partially erupted, poorly positioned or contribute to crowding and inflammation. Careful surgical planning helps protect surrounding structures, reduce unnecessary risk and support a smoother recovery.

Diagnosis and Treatment Planning

Clear Dental Evaluation Before Treatment Begins

A successful dental plan begins with the right diagnosis. Dr. Mirely Ucan Lopez and the team at Mérida Dental Specialties Clinic evaluate each patient’s symptoms, dental history, pain level, existing restorations, gum condition, missing teeth, bite function, X-rays and treatment goals before recommending care.

This is especially important for international patients because dental treatment often needs to be planned in the correct sequence. A painful tooth may need endodontic treatment before a crown. Gum disease may need to be controlled before dental implants. Oral surgery may need to happen before prosthetic rehabilitation. Aesthetic dentistry may need to be coordinated with orthodontics, prosthetics or periodontal care.

With MyMediTour, patients can prepare before traveling by sharing dental photos, panoramic X-rays, periapical X-rays, prior treatment records, implant details, medication lists, allergy history and treatment goals. This helps the clinic better understand the case before the patient arrives in Mérida.

Recovery and Follow-Up Care

Protecting Comfort, Function and Long-Term Results

Recovery after dental treatment depends on the procedure performed. Some visits, such as consultations, cleanings, evaluations or simple aesthetic treatments, may require little to no downtime. Other treatments, including root canal therapy, oral surgery, dental implant placement, periodontal care or prosthetic rehabilitation, may require specific aftercare instructions and follow-up.

For endodontic treatment, follow-up is especially important. Saving the tooth is only the first part of the process. After root canal treatment, the tooth often needs the right final restoration to protect it long term. Depending on the case, this may involve a filling, crown or prosthetic plan.

Mérida Dental Specialties Clinic also places strong emphasis on prevention and patient education, helping patients maintain healthier smiles and reduce the need for unnecessary future treatment.

Why Travel to Mexico for Dental Tourism

Dental Specialty Care in Mérida with Strong Value for International Patients

Mexico is one of the most practical destinations for dental tourism, especially for patients from the United States and Canada who want quality dental care, experienced specialists and more accessible treatment options.

Mérida is especially appealing for dental travelers because it offers a calmer setting than many larger medical tourism cities, while still providing private dental care, hotels, transportation, restaurants and recovery-friendly accommodations. For patients who need endodontics, implants, crowns, dental prosthetics, aesthetic dentistry, pediatric dentistry, gum care or oral surgery, Mérida can be a strong destination when the treatment plan is organized correctly.

Mérida Dental Specialties Clinic is well suited for dental tourism because it offers several specialties in one clinic. This helps patients address different needs in the same care journey, including dental pain, missing teeth, gum health, children’s dental care, smile appearance and preventive maintenance.

Through MyMediTour, patients can coordinate the dental plan, travel timing, accommodation guidance, communication with the clinic and follow-up expectations before traveling to Mexico.

Visa, Entry Requirements and Travel Planning

Preparing for Dental Treatment in Mexico

Patients traveling to Mexico for dental care should confirm current entry requirements before booking flights. Mexico’s National Immigration Institute maintains current guidance for travelers who do not require a visa to enter Mexico as visitors without permission to perform paid activities. Travelers may be asked to present a valid passport or travel document, hotel reservation, return ticket, itinerary, address in Mexico, length of stay and information about the purpose of travel.

Patients should prepare a valid passport, visa documents when required, appointment confirmation, hotel information, return flight information, medication list, allergy information, dental X-rays, prior treatment records and any implant, crown, bridge, root canal or orthodontic history.

Patients traveling for complex dentistry should also confirm how many visits are required, whether laboratory work is involved, whether healing time is needed and whether follow-up can be completed virtually or requires another appointment. For pediatric dental care, parents should also prepare the child’s medical history, medication list, allergy information, previous dental records and any anxiety or behavior concerns that may help the dental team plan care.

10/10 experience! From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional. My girlfriend is immune-compromised and requires a lot of extra accommodations. The staff went above and beyond to happily and quickly provide for all of our extra requests for her required needs. They graciously allowed us to bring in our own air filter, open the windows for fresh air, and made sure we felt completely comfortable throughout the entire visit. The attention to detail was impeccable, and they handled everything with kindness and understanding. The entire team truly made us feel like a priority. Not only was the care outstanding, but the prices were also great for the high-quality service we received. It’s rare to find such an accommodating and thoughtful team, and we’re so grateful for how they treated us. Highly recommend this office to anyone looking for top-notch care in a compassionate and welcoming environment!

Doctor Patricia Ramirez is an excellent dentist who did an absolutely amazing job with my 4 veneers that I had done. She went above and beyond in providing meticulous care in the details, making sure everything was as close to perfect as possible. I would highly recommend setting up an appointment with her for any of your dental needs. In the future I plan to come back to see her and have additional crown work done that unfortunately I periodically need. Thus, I am grateful that I came to see her, and look forward to the next visit with her, knowing that she will continue only providing excellence. Stephen Shuler Florida

Dra Mirely is very empathetic and gentle in her treatment. She explains every move. She is also very efficient, professional and has been on time with each appointment. The equipment is excellent and she is careful with her work. She treated me for a bad infection under a front crown during two sessions and I would have no hesitation in returning to her again.
