Advanced Fertility Treatment in Greece for Patients Seeking Personalized IVF Care and Reproductive Support

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a widely used assisted reproductive treatment that helps individuals and couples pursue pregnancy by fertilizing eggs with sperm in a specialized laboratory before transferring an embryo into the uterus. IVF may be recommended for various fertility challenges, including tubal factor infertility, ovulation disorders, endometriosis, male factor infertility, unexplained infertility, and diminished ovarian reserve.

Athens, Greece is a popular destination for fertility treatment due to its experienced reproductive specialists, advanced fertility clinics, and patient-focused approach to care. Many international patients choose Greece for its high standards of reproductive medicine and personalized treatment options.

At Ovagenesis, IVF treatment begins with a comprehensive fertility evaluation and individualized treatment plan. Through advanced reproductive technologies, continuous monitoring, and dedicated patient support, the clinic aims to provide personalized fertility care throughout every stage of the IVF journey.

🔍 What Is IVF?

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is an assisted reproductive treatment that involves retrieving mature eggs from the ovaries, fertilizing them with sperm in a laboratory, and transferring the resulting embryo into the uterus. IVF is often recommended when natural conception has been unsuccessful or when specific fertility factors are identified during evaluation.

The process typically begins with ovarian stimulation using fertility medications to encourage the development of multiple eggs. Patients are monitored through ultrasounds and hormone assessments to determine the optimal timing for egg retrieval.

Once mature, the eggs are collected through a minimally invasive procedure and fertilized with sperm from a partner or donor in a specialized embryology laboratory. The resulting embryos are monitored for several days, and selected embryos are then transferred into the uterus to support implantation. IVF may be used for a variety of fertility conditions, including tubal factor infertility, ovulation disorders, endometriosis, male factor infertility, unexplained infertility, and diminished ovarian reserve. Treatment plans are tailored to each patient’s individual needs. With advanced reproductive technology and personalized care, IVF offers many individuals and couples an opportunity to pursue pregnancy when other approaches have not been successful.

🩺 Types of IVF

  • Conventional IVF – Eggs and sperm are combined in the laboratory to allow natural fertilization under controlled conditions.
  • IVF with ICSI – A single sperm is injected directly into an egg to assist fertilization when male factor infertility is present.
  • IVF with Donor Eggs – Donor eggs may be utilized when ovarian reserve or egg quality concerns are identified.
  • IVF with Donor Sperm – Donor sperm may be incorporated into the treatment plan when appropriate.
  • Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) IVF – Previously cryopreserved embryos are thawed and transferred during a future treatment cycle.
  • IVF with Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) – Embryos may undergo genetic screening before transfer when medically indicated.
  • Blastocyst Transfer IVF – Embryos are cultured to the blastocyst stage before transfer.
  • Natural Cycle IVF – IVF treatment performed with minimal or no ovarian stimulation medication.

I wish to comment on the Excellent service received at the clinic on the 28/11/2023. My visit was all good right from the start of the appointment and doctor selection through Effie, then Katerina who arranged the appointment with DR Garavelas. On arrival at the Clinic, It was a warm welcome from Afroditi and the initial consultation with Dr Garavelas’s assistant. All these were very assuring. My consultation with DR Gravels was very good and professional. He explained the procedures and did inform of us of his honest opinions. I want to express my special gratitude to Afroditi and Eirini who made my stay and visit very easy and comfortable. They were both professional and humorous. They delivered an excellent service and were very patient centred. They kept me smiling all through. Efharisto
